Are you passionate about environmental action and community development? GROW Enrichment is seeking a highly motivated and energetic individual  to join our team as volunteer coordinator.

GROW Enrichment is a community-based 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization cultivating a movement toward sustainable land use and increased food security for Nashville. We provide sustainability-focused education to both children and adults at our project site within Two Rivers Park. GROW offers programs aimed at increasing awareness and protection of native species, promoting conservation of earth’s resources, teaching skills to cultivate land in our urban landscape, and providing positive experiences in nature. Our programs serve all ages and demographics through homeschool enrichment, community outreach programs, individual and corporate volunteer opportunities and training, and public school field trips. As the stewards of Nashville's first food forest, we're passionate about harnessing the power of nature to nourish our community and educate current and future generations.

GOALS

🍃 INNOVATIVE IMPACT:  Help secure volunteers for initiatives that positively impact urban landscapes and support sustainability initiatives. 

📚 EDUCATIONAL EMPOWERMENT:  Join us in providing high-quality environmental science education to students in Metro Nashville Public Schools (MNPS), homeschoolers, and the wider community. Volunteers learn hands-on skills in permaculture, sustainability, and conservation. Our project site isn't just a park – it's a living classroom where immersive learning comes to life.

🌟 STEWARDSHIP IN ACTION: Step in as a caretaker of our public park space and engage with volunteers, community members, and park visitors to make sure our green oasis continues to thrive for years to come.

ROLE OVERVIEW

As volunteer coordinator, you’ll play an important role in recruiting, training, and managing volunteers to ensure effective support and successful execution of land management tasks. We're looking for someone with strong communication skills, organizational abilities, and interpersonal skills. You will have the unique privilege of connecting individuals who believe in our organization’s mission with opportunities to serve while acquiring skills and training in permaculture, sustainable gardening practices, and conservation of local species. GROW’s success relies on the generous gifts of time and sweat equity from members of our community, and we are rooted in equality and accessibility. Your job will be to build and strengthen our network of regular volunteers, both individual and teams (especially corporate), to help us build and grow. Our nonprofit board is volunteer-based, and thrives on the generous commitment and vision of its members. Board member positions are a two-year commitment with varying monthly hours depending on need. RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Volunteer Recruitment and Training: Attracting, screening, and onboarding volunteers, and providing them with necessary training on food security and regenerative land management practices. 

2. Program Coordination and Support: Organizing volunteer activities, ensuring they align with the nonprofit's goals, and providing ongoing support and supervision to ensure effective and meaningful participation.

3. Community Outreach and Engagement: Building relationships with community members, local organizations, and stakeholders to promote volunteer opportunities and raise awareness about food security and regenerative land management. Establishing ways to encourage repeat volunteer relationships, and connecting with corporations and other community partners to funnel volunteer teams into GROW’s needed areas.

4. Monitoring and Evaluation: Tracking volunteer participation, evaluating the impact of volunteer efforts on project outcomes, and providing regular reports to stakeholders to demonstrate the value and effectiveness of volunteer contributions. 

5. Team Collaboration: Working with executive director and other program directors to calculate needed manpower and volunteer hours for specific projects, events, activities, educational programs, etc. 

QUALITIES

🔍 COMMUNICATION: You are a skilled communicator and are able to clearly convey expectations, provide guidance, and foster a fun and collaborative environment with volunteers. You are enthusiastic and love outreach and engaging with others. You will be a cheerleader for GROW Enrichment and are excited to invite others to join us.

📋 ORGANIZED: You are efficient at managing schedules and tracking data including volunteer needs, hours, and reports. You are able to coordinate multiple activities simultaneously and see to the details required for each event. You are comfortable with using a variety of tools and online platforms to effectively executive duties and manage responsibilities.

EMPATHY & INTERPERSONAL SKILLS: Building rapport with volunteers, understanding their motivations, and addressing any concerns are crucial for maintaining a motivated and committed volunteer team. 

🌱 PASSION FOR ENVIRONMENTAL ACTION: We're seeking someone who shares our dedication to using interactive and experiential methods to educate and conserve native species and community resources in our urban landscape. We believe in nurturing and protecting our planet for future generations, and we want to teach our friends and neighbors how they can do it, too.
