GROW Enrichment is seeking an individual passionate about earth care, social justice, and community empowerment to take the mantle as president of our environmental nonprofit’s board of directors.
GROW Enrichment is a community-based 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization cultivating a movement toward sustainable land use and increased food security for Nashville. We provide sustainability-focused education to both children and adults at our project site within Two Rivers Park. GROW offers programs aimed at increasing awareness and protection of native species, promoting conservation of earth’s resources, teaching skills to cultivate land in our urban landscape, and providing positive experiences in nature. Our programs serve all ages and demographics through homeschool enrichment, community outreach programs, individual and corporate volunteer opportunities and training, and public school field trips. As the stewards of Nashville's first food forest, we're passionate about harnessing the power of nature to nourish our community and educate current and future generations.
The president is crucial to the strength and growth of our organization and championing our mission through nature-based education and environmental initiatives.
GOALS

📚 EDUCATIONAL EMPOWERMENT: Join us in providing high-quality environmental science education to students in Metro Nashville Public Schools (MNPS), homeschoolers, and the wider community. Our project site isn't just a park – it's a living classroom where immersive learning comes to life.
🌟 STEWARDSHIP IN ACTION: Step in as a caretaker of our public park space and engage with volunteers, community members, and park visitors to make sure our green oasis continues to thrive for years to come.
🌿COLLABORATIVE ENVIRONMENT: Work with a passionate team of like-minded individuals as we cultivate our living classroom, organize environmental learning opportunities, and build community.
ROLE OVERVIEW
This position requires active involvement and hands-on contributions for a term of 2 years. You will be immersed in our mission to utilize interactive and experiential methods to educate members of the community, conserve earth’s resources, optimize native species, and expand access to natural environments in Nashville’s urban landscape. Our nonprofit board is volunteer-based, and thrives on the generous commitment and vision of its members.
RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Strategic planning and collaboration with the board to advance our mission, with a specific focus on addressing food security challenges within our community and establishing GROW as a vital resource for nature-based education and sustainability.
2. Leading, supporting, and overseeing the board members to ensure effective operations.
3. Working to establish partnerships with local organizations, government agencies, and area groups to build community and support around our mission.
4. Community outreach and education through engagement with residents, schools and businesses to raise awareness about conservation and food security issues, and promoting community-driven solutions through educational workshops, events, and outreach activities.
5. Working with board members to identify funding opportunities, secure grants and sponsorships, and cultivate relationships with donors and supporters to ensure the financial sustainability of our programs.
6. Providing leadership and guidance to fellow board members, committees, and volunteers in our initiatives, and fostering a collaborative and inclusive organizational culture committed to achieving our shared mission and vision.
7. Representing GROW’s mission in our community and taking an active role in GROW events and activities.
8. Working with board members on creative growth and development of our programs, and increasing awareness of GROW in the community.
